Bamboo fungus cultivation drives farmers to become affluent

On February 26, it is the fiery harvest time in one of bases in Shunchang County, Fujian Province of China.

Shunchang County is located in subtropical zone where is mild in climate, abundant in rainfall, large in temperature difference between day and night and fertile in soil, which fits for Bamboo fungus cultivation.

In addition, Shunchang County is also known as “The Hometown of Mao Bamboo”, area of bamboo forest reaches 670,000 mu. And, there are 56 enterprises which engage in production of bamboo products, bamboo scraps are utilized as the compost for Bamboo fungus cultivation.

After years of development, nowadays, area for Bamboo fungus cultivation reaches 12,000 mu within Shunchang County, gross output comes to nearly 900,000 kg, accounting for 20% of China’s Bamboo fungus production, products are sold to Southeast Asia and gain popularity by consumers.
